Transit through the ports of Ukraine, results of January-February 2004.
According to the State Department for Sea and River Transport at the Ministry of transport of Ukraine (“Ukrmorrechflot”), in January-February 2004 Ukraine’s sea ports handled 8.208 mn t of cargo (-0.6% against the analogous period of the last year. For reference: dynamics of the analogous period of the last year made up +22%). If compared to January, the growth of February made up +6.9%.
Odessa Port was a leader by transit handling (2.86 mn t or 34.8% of total ports’ transit. In the analogous period of the last year its portion exceeded 35%). The leaders’ club also included the ports of Feodosiya (1.78 mn t, +17.1%), Yuzhniy (1.68 mn t, +33.9%), Mariupol (0.78 mn t, +3.1%). Transit handling was conducted by all the ports excepting Sevastopol and Yalta.
Reviewed period was featured by falling of transit leading role in the ports. The mentioned falling range was observed in all ports starting from the results of Illiychevsk (-70.3%, to 169 ths t) and Kherson (-87.1%, to 10.4 ths t) to Berdyansk (-27.9%, to 91 ths t) and Kerch (-13%, up to 100 ths t).
