Ukraine reduces steel tube exports.

According to the preliminary data, in January-February 2004 Ukraine exported about 150.0 ths t of steel tubes for the total amount of USD 126.7 mn. In this way, physical volumes of Ukraine’s export of steel tubes made up only 82% of the level achieved in the analogous period of 2003. Russia remains the largest buyer of Ukrainian tubes – its portion is 40.9% of physical volumes of the mentioned exports, or 25.7% in financial terms. According to Infor-Metal LLC.

According to the results of January-February 2004, the largest world regions importing metal articles (article group 72) from Ukraine were, as follows: Asia (43.6% or 1,771.7 ths t), Middle East (22% or 894.5 ths t), Africa (12.2% or 493.3 ths t), CIS (7.5% or 304.2 ths t), and also East European countries (8.8% or 355.6 ths t), as well as EU members (4.7% or 189.4 ths t). According to the results of January-February 2004, the largest suppliers of metal articles (article group 72) to Ukraine were as follows: CIS (87.9% or 103.6 ths t), East European countries (8% or 9.4%), as well as EU members (5.7% or 3.9 ths t). Meanwhile, miscellaneous metal articles were included in supplies from CIS (from raw materials to finished rolled metal), while EU and East European countries were supplying only high-technology rolled metal and rolled alloyed steel.
