Ukraine and Turkey have not agreed duties on scrap metal.
Ukraine and turkey haven’t com to agreement concerning the cancellation of export duty for scrap metal implemented by the Ukrainian party. This information was reported by Dmitriy Tabachnik, Co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Turkish Commission on trade and economic cooperation, Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine, at the press-conference.
“At the present moment all the steel founder face the deficit in scrap metal”, – he stated. According to the words of Mr. Tabachnik, there were created the special work group, which should prepare the proposals for solving of scrap problem.
Kursad Tuzmen, Co-chairman of the Commission, the State Minister of Turkey stated that almost 50% of the Ukrainian scrap metal are exported to Turkey. As it was reported by Mr. Tabachnik, the mentioned work group should forward their proposals to the governments of both nations.
“I hope that we will find a decision concerning validity period of the law (on export duty), or concerning reduction of duty rate”, – said the Vice-Premier of Ukraine.
January,1 2003 Ukraine implemented export duty on scrap metal at the level of EUR 30 per one tonne. Turkish part grounds the question of export duty cancellation for scrap metal with signing of Protocol on the bilateral market access fir goods and services, which is necessary for Ukraine’s entering WTO.
